The Green Years
Description
Harry Spencer’s relationship with his much-loved father is shattered when Calvin returns from WWI, bitter and missing an arm. Though confused and brokenhearted, Harry is determined to make something of himself, endeavoring, with heart and sometimes-humorous results, to sell medicinal salve, wash windows, and work at a roller skating rink. He meets Carol Ann Bellwood at school, and they become sweethearts. A vicious KKK attack on his granddad’s store implicates his father, and Harry, inflamed by the harrowing experience, must redefine his kinship with his father.
